For founders and CEOs
Before you post, find the seat and read the titles peers used. If your title reaches across two of them, that is worth a second look; the page shows the titles and stops.
For portfolio talent teams
Title drift across a portfolio shows up here first: the same seat posted under several titles is often the same search scoped several ways.
For hiring managers
The level mix shows how often peers post a seat as an individual contributor role against a manager or head-of role. If you are hiring your own boss or your first report, it is the place to start.
Questions people ask
Is my job description asking for two jobs?
This page cannot say. It shows how companies like yours titled and levelled the same seat, so you can see whether your title stretches across two of theirs. The judgement is a conversation, not a figure.
Should the first account executive be called a founding account executive?
Few companies use the title: the page counts how many did against how many posted an account executive role at all. The title signals scope and equity expectations, so use it when you mean both.
Does a posting mean the company hired someone?
No. A posting says a company was looking for the role, not that it filled it, and a company that posted the same role five times counts once. The page reads what was posted and listed, never who was hired.
Is a company that posted nothing not hiring?
Not necessarily. Many companies hire through referrals, agencies and their own networks and never post, and many run no public job board we can read. A company with no posting we could read is unknown, so every figure here counts the companies that did post, and is the least of the group that was hiring a role, never the most.
Methodology and data
Window
Titles: 2025-10-25 to 2026-10-25. Levels: the board read of 2026-10-24.
Who is included
- Titles: the companies that posted the seat in the window, a company counted once per title.
- Listed figures are over the 137 of the 462 companies we track whose public job board we read every weekday (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable), on the read of 2026-10-24. A company with no board we read is unknown, not quiet: it may hire through referrals, agencies or its own site.
Coverage
- Titles are shown only when they carry the seat's own words; 1 of the most common titles filed under a seat without them are left out. 4 listings at levels outside the six shown (founder, executive vice president) are left out of the level chart.
- The engineering leader seat includes staff and principal engineers, as the title rules file them.
Limits and caps
- Whether a title asks for two jobs is a judgement this page does not make: it shows how peers titled and levelled the seat and stops.
- A share is stated only over 30 companies or more; below that the page gives counts. Medians, never means. Rules dashboards@1.0.0 (src/lib/dashboards.ts, tested in test/dashboards.test.ts).
When each figure can be stated
| Figure | Stated from |
|---|---|
| Titles per seat, by company, over twelve months | today |
| Levels of the roles listed on the boards we read | today, as "listed on our read of" that day |
| Whether a title combines two jobs | never from this data |
